…but I would like to ask everyone to keep a young boy in their prayers, sweet Elijah is battling to get into remission and onto transplant. His family will be moving to Minnesota from Iowa to get this done….I know it is tremendously hard on them right now, and I pray that the doc’s at MN can get him in remission. Their reality has been my fear this whole week…..I am praying for you Dawn and sweet Elijah!!!

The Cloud of Unknowing

"Relish this piece from The Cloud of Unknowing, written in the 14th century: Our intense need to understand will always be a powerful stumbling block to our attempts to reach God in simple love, and must always be overcome. For if you do not overcome this need to understand, it will undermine your quest. It will replace the darkness which you have pierced to reach God, with clear images of something which, however good, however beautiful, however Godlike, is not God. So, therefore, never give up your resolve, but beat away at this cloud of unknowing between you and God with that sharp dart of longing love. And so I urge you, go after experience rather than knowledge. On account of pride, knowledge may often deceive you, but this gentle, loving affection will not deceive you. Knowledge tends to breed conceit, but love builds. Knowledge is full of labor, but love, full of rest."

I am the Lord, your God.

The Innocents Cemetery

"Grace Lutheran Church is a pro-life church and is committed to the belief that every human life is sacred. Each year at the anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, Grace members plant crosses in remembrance of the approximately 4500 American babies killed each day in the United States. These crosses are planted behind the church in what Grace calls the Innocents Cemetery."

This is an exciting time!

"It is exciting to see how God is directing and blessing His church that we have named AMAZING GRACE. As we become informed of how God has gone ahead and prepared this time and place for our service, we will all be awed anew at God's Amazing Grace.

We ask that you continue to pray for the Lord's guidance as we seek to serve Him through this mission opportunity."

Collect for the Word

Blessed Lord, who hast caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of Thy holy Word we may embrace, and ever hold fast, the blessed hope of everlasting life, which Thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. (The Lutheran Hymnal, p. 14)

Commissioning Luncheon

On Sunday, July 8th we are celebrating the installation of Pastor Rockey as our mission planter.
His installation will be held during both services at Trinity and Fellowship is hosting coffee and cake after both services. Several of us thought is appropriate to have lunch for Pastor Rockey, his family, and special guests in addition to the coffee hours. Therefore we have reserved space at Nancy Lopez for a dutch lunch with Pastor Rockey and guests. We will of course provide lunch for the Pastor, his family, guests and our special guests from the Florida-Georgia district who will be participating in the services.

I need everyone to RSVP to me by Monday-(No later than Tuesday) so we can advise the people at Nancy Lopez how much space we need. Send me e-mails or call 352-454-5736.

Thanks,
Ken Hovis

Pastor Rockey's Commissioning

The commissioning will be conducted at both services. Pastor Rockey will serve as a missionary for the Florida / Georgia District in the Wildwood/Oxford area with the goal of establishing a new congregation.
