Relationships vs Love

Dear Holy Spirit, may the words of my mouth be acceptable to You.

Relationship is a relatively modern word. Many in our culture call upon it to express a new sense of caring for others. But in this world we are just not given the opportunity to have meaningful relationships with many people beyond our closest circle of family and friends.

For some of us meaningful relationships are few, for others they have many more but, given the limits of our human existence it is difficult to really care for the day-to-day needs of others.
Perhaps, what we understand to be "meaningful relationships" with others will only be possible when God gives us our heavenly eternity.

But,
what we have now is love and God wants us to love Him and to love all others no matter how brief the encounter.
On earth, we may not have time to develop strong relationships, but our triune God wants us to love.

He wants me to love Pope Benedict even though I'm a Lutheran, He wants me to love women even though I'm a man, He wants me to love my boss even though he treats me unfairly, He wants me to love my enemies even though they seek to kill me, He wants me to love my relatives even though we have differences, and He wants me to love you even though I don't know you and think you're strange.

Through Christ, I want to love you. Do you want to love me?

All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name

All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name: "All hail the power of Jesus’ Name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all. Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre, and as they tune it, fall Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all. Before His face Who tunes their choir, and crown Him Lord of all. Crown Him, ye morning stars of light, who fixed this floating ball; Now hail the strength of Israel’s might, and crown Him Lord of all. Now hail the strength of Israel’s might, and crown Him Lord of all. Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, who from His altar call; Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod, and crown Him Lord of all. Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod, and crown Him Lord of all. Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race, ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him, ye heirs of David’s line, whom David Lord did call, The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all, The God incarnate, Man divine, and crown Him Lord of all. Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget the wormwood and the gall, Go sprea"

Praise Report

God raised up seven of us Trinity members to get the job done very quickly this afternoon. We had good fellowship and laughs as the Canvass Bags were assembled. A prayer of blessing on the upcoming Canvass on Saturday morning was given.

I might mention that the other evening, we canvassed 21 homes in a nearby neighborhood. Of the eight houses where there was someone home and we had a conversation, only four indicated they went to church. As with the national statistics, at least fifty percent of Americans do not have a place of worship. So many are waiting to be invited.
Please pray for Saturday's canvass that many will join us at 9 a.m. for the canvass, that good conversations will occur at the homes we visit, that those who do not know Jesus will be encouraged to learn more about Him and His unconditional love in our Bible studies and Worship at Amazing Grace. Prayerfully consider stretching outside your comfort zone and join us this Saturday morning.

Here are some reasons to Canvass:
* loneliness is one of the most widespread problems in America today.
* many have the unmet need for companionship and are willing to speak with a canvasser at the door.
* canvassing trains us to be bold witnesses to talk about our faith in Jesus Christ
* some people will never come to worship services or a church event on their own; we have to go to where they are
* Jesus said "Go," not wait for them to come; canvassing is one form of going

My Savior Lives

Time Slips By

As we get older, our vision should improve. Not our vision of earth, but our vision of heaven. Those who have spent their life looking for heaven gain a skip in their step as the city comes into view. After Michelangelo died, someone found in his studio a piece of paper on which he had written a note to his apprentice. In the handwriting of his old age the great artist wrote: "Draw, Antonio, draw, and do not waste time."
Well-founded urgency, Michelangelo. Time slips. Days pass. Years fade, and life ends. And what we came to do must be done while there is time.

Canvassing

Don’t be afraid, come experience the joy of handing out information about
AGLC on Saturday, September 8, from 9 am – Noon
meeting at First Baptist Oxford in our facility (CR 301, just off CR 466 turning south on CR 207)
We’ll train you and partner you with others to go out 2 by 2 to about 20 homes as we
simply introduce the arrival of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church to the neighborhood.
These are non-threatening and "warm, friendly" calls.
We have routes set up to reach over 500 homes in established areas (outside of The Villages),
so we need at least 10 teams for this first neighborhood canvass.
9:00 - 9:10 Fellowship, Continental Breakfast
9:10 - 9:30 Prayer, Training, Team Matching, Route Assignments
9:30 - 11:00 Canvass
11:15 - 12:00 Refreshments, Debriefing, Prayer
Also, if you aren’t comfortable going door to door, you can get your
morning walk in by walking the same area and be a PRAYER WALKER.

AGLC Calendar - Access on the right panel

Pastor Rockey and Lois Shafer are able to ADD events to this calendar. Let me know who else will need to add events.

Canvassing

Join us Saturday, September 8, from 9am - Noon

We'll meet at First Baptist-Oxford for a time of fellowship, prayer/devotion and instructions.

“This is not your Father’s canvassing!”

      • Teams of two will go through neighborhoods (already mapped out) handing out the canvass bags with Gospel of John, Brochure, Business Card and a letter from Pastor
      • Asking two questions 1) What would you say are two of the greatest needs in this community a new church like AGLC could help meet? 2) Do you have a place of worship?
      • Then as we depart offer to take any prayer need they might haveThis info then comes back on a form completed for follow up.
      • People are very receptive to this type front porch visit and it's a simple way for AGLC to say we are here for our community. Will you help us share the word about AGLC and discover what God is calling us to do? Call Pastor Rockey at 391-3363 if you have any questions.
      • If you can't make this date...call and we'll set up a time that will work for you!

BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: EPH 2: "19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."

BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: Acts 1;

My spirit is being challenged and uplifted...

My spirit is being challenged and uplifted as I see God working through me and others at AGLC. The involvement in being a part of the birth of a church is enlivening. It is a dream come true to have this opportunity.

Watching as prayers are answered miraculously, such as for a location and leader, is amazing to behold. My fervent prayers are for reaching this community with the life saving good news of Jesus and demonstrating His love to many in a tangible way.

I am also grateful for the Bible study opportunities and small groups so that we can get to know one another through relationship building.

2 Timothy 1:6-11

BibleGateway.com: Search for a Bible passage in over 35 languages and 50 versions.: "6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 8So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher."

Dear Lord and Healer:

I sincerely thank-you for the great blood test results this week that my wife has received after her cancer treatment. Amen

The WAMG Oxford Candle?

The Internet ministry, WAMG Oxford was created to provide a anytime place for sharing God's love. It is a spiritual ministry whose focus is on glorifying our Lord and Savior. To keep lit, the WAMG candle needs spirit filled oxygen. WAMG Oxford is about God and how we serve Him.

As mentioned in the introduction,

"WAMG Oxford is serving soul food 24/7 to all who come, WMAG programming includes: praising and glorifying our triune God, sharing and witnessing God's love, studying God's Word electronically, praying and meditating in a quiet place, knowing more about our Christian beliefs, sharing our journey with the Holy Spirit as we become Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Oxford, FL and telling others about our faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

All viewers are encouraged to comment and are invited to share their love of God including inspired testimony, songs, photo images, videos, prayers, music, Christian links, favorite Bible passages, sermons, quotes, questions of faith, and prayer requests. Submit all items with attachments by clicking on WAMG Mail."
Over the past few months, God has worked wonders in our lives and the life of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church but, very little information on these matters is being shared. This internet ministry needs your love and this information to sustain and grow. Otherwise our WAMG Oxford candle will extinguish.

It's flickering now.
